Katy Perry Lands Spot on 'HIMYM' as Zoey's Cousin

Katy Perry is the latest pop star who has signed up to make an appearance on hit U.S. comedy "How I Met Your Mother". The "California Gurls" singer will make her sitcom debut playing a "beautiful and naive" girl who is given the nickname Honey.

In a release, series co-creator Carter Bays said of his guest star, "Katy is a tremendous talent, and we are delighted to be able to work with her." The episode would be called "Oh Honey" but its release date is still unknown. According to CBS, Honey is the cousin of Jennifer Morrison's Zoey and "the gang resorts to calling [her] 'Honey'."

Perry isn't the first singer to land a role on the series - Britney Spears, Nicole Scherzinger and Carrie Underwood have all made scene-stealing cameos in the show.

This would be Perry's first appearance in a primetime sitcom. She previously played with Elmo on "Sesame Street" and got slammed for her revealing outfit. In response to the criticism, Perry appeared on "Saturday Night Live" with a good view of her cleavage.

Justin Bieber Wants 'Glee' Cameo for Himself and Cheryl Cole

Justin Bieber is campaigning to land British singer Cheryl Cole a cameo spot as a sexy teacher on hit U.S. TV show "Glee". The "Baby" hitmaker is reportedly in talks to film his own guest role on the all-singing-all-dancing program, but he insists he'll only agree if producers sign up theGirls Aloud beauty to star alongside him.

He tells Britain's The Sun, "I am going to tell the producers that it must be in the agreement that Cheryl

gets a part in the show as well. Cheryl and the show make total sense. It's all about people who look good and can sing and dance - that's totally Cheryl."

"I have told her every time I have seen her that as soon as she lands in the U.S. for 'The X Factor' I am going to work with her. Glee is a great way to introduce her to the States - everybody is watching it. She looks beautiful, but I am not sure she could quite get away with playing a student. It would be great if she played a substitute teacher taking a sabbatical from England or something. Can you imagine how hot Cheryl would look dressed as a school teacher?"

Bieber made his affections for the British star clear when he performed on Simon Cowell's "The X Factor" - on which Cole is a judge - last year.

'Lost' Is Most Pirated TV Show of 2010

Cult series "Lost" and "Heroes" are the two most pirated TV shows on BitTorrent in the year of 2010, TorrentFreak has found out. These are the exact two shows that also topped the list in 2009 although the number of illegal downloads slightly decreases this year.

"Lost" scored higher than "Heroes" which came out as the winner last year. A single episode was downloaded almost 6 million times, while the estimate U.S.
TV viewers is 13.5 million. "Heroes", which aired its very last episode in February, was downloaded 5.4 million while its average viewership on TV is 5.3 million.

"Heroes" is one of the examples of how TV viewing habits have steadily changed throughout the years worldwide. While in the U.S. the number of downloaders has declined due to alternatives like Hulu, those in Australia and Europe remain "at pretty much the same level as last year".

At the same time, the demand for U.S. TV shows increases but it takes weeks and even months before the show debuts overseas. Those not patient enough turn to BitTorrent. The top 10 most pirated shows are below while the numbers are available at TorrentFreak.com.
  1. "Lost"
  2. "Heroes"
  3. "Dexter"
  4. "The Big Bang Theory"
  5. "House M.D."
  6. "How I Met Your Mother"
  7. "24"
  8. "True Blood"
  9. "Glee"
  10. "Family Guy"

Discovery Channel Postpones 'Michael Jackson's Autopsy' Following Protests

A TV re-enactment of Michael Jackson's autopsy has been shelved after the late superstar's estate executors urged network bosses to axe the macabre and controversial special. Discovery Channel chiefs have canceled plans to air the program, "Michael Jackson's Autopsy: What Really Killed Michael Jackson".

A statement from the network reads, "Given the commencement of legal proceedings beginning next week, and at the request of Michael Jackson's estate, the scheduled broadcast of the medical documentary related to Michael Jackson's official autopsy has been postponed indefinitely."
The TV special was a fictional account of Jackson's autopsy, and print ads promoting it, which started running late last month, outraged the late star's estate. Co-executors John Branca and John McClain fired of a letter to Discovery boss David Zaslav last week, urging him to pull the program out of decency. They accused the network's bosses of operating in "shockingly bad taste."

Branca and McClain added, "We were especially outraged when a sickening print advertisement for the program appeared making light of Michael's death by depicting a corpse sprawled on a steel gurney covered by a sheet with a hand sticking out wearing Michael's signature sequined glove.... The ad is debased, sick and insensitive."

They concluded the letter with, "On behalf of Michael's family, fans, common sense and decency, we urge you to reconsider and cancel this program." Jackson fans also showed their outrage by signing an online petition launched in December.

'Jersey Shore' New Girl Shows Off Her 'Nana' in Long Preview

MTV releases a preview of "Jersey Shore" season 3 and two violations occur in the first 40 seconds of the promo. Snooki was on the way to pick up the gang's new member Deena Cortese and she used the phone while driving there. When pulling in the driveway, she accidentally ran over a cat.

The ten minutes preview is about how Deena infused into the group.
The first attempt to prove that she is Snooki number 2 is to get wild with one of the guidos. The Situation was offered a full and free glimpse of Deena's naked butt and her "nana" after he was lured to her room for a lame reason.

Like the rest of the girls, Deena is not keen on Sammi Giancola, pulling a nerve while arguing with the "sweetheart". When first introduced to Deena, Sammi described her as "four-feet tall, short little meatball. Exactly like Snooki." Later when they got to know a bit further, she called Deena "a dirty chihuahua".

"Jersey Shore" returns to the Seaside Heights on Thursday, January 6 at 10/9c.

Kate Gosselin and Kids Flew to Australia for 'Kate Plus 8'

Australia is about to get one more endorsement from an American television show. Oprah Winfrey came to the smallest continent earlier this month for "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and Kate Gosselin has followed her footstep by visiting it for holiday with her kids. While there, TLC's cameras also tagged along to document the vacation for "Kate Plus 8".
Kate and the eight kids have flown to Australia to ring in the new year. According to Radar Online, they will also stop by New Zealand during the trip. While dad Jon Gosselin did not join them, Kate is accompanied by her bodyguard Steve Nield. Since this is part of the reality show's filming, then all the bills go to TLC.

"Kate and the kids flew-out just before midnight last night in what will be a staggered trip to Australia and New Zealand," a source told Radar. "Obviously, Jon was informed of the excursion and the kids will not see their father again until mid-January when they return to America with their mom."

"They will be filming for Kate Plus 8 and the kids are excited about visiting both Australia and New Zealand. Steve Nield - who is from New Zealand - will also be traveling with them while they tour both countries."

No clue yet for which episode the Australian vacation would be.

Ten Things You Don't Know About 'Glee' Star Chord Overstreet

Slightly more than a month away from the return episode, "Glee" fills up the gap by releasing a special featurette about its news cast. Chord Overstreet joins the New Direction gang in the second season as Sam Evans and here are ten things about the actor that fans may find interesting.

Chord has a dog back at home and his favorite thing to do on spare time is watching football.
He wants to play flute, is a true gleek for he likes to read, and will snooze after drinking coffee. He is also "constantly wanting sweet food", "secretly likes to dance", and has the bad habit of biting his nails. In the remaining two slots Overstreet said he likes to cut grass and do Riverdance.

The 21 years old said previously that despite his liking of dance, he is not blessed with the talent. "Thank God (choreographer) Zach Woodlee has had all the patience in the world for me and my dancing," Overstreet said. "Me and Cory [Monteith] aren't the most talented dancers."

"Glee" returns February 6 on FOX.

'Wizard of Oz' Talent Search to Be Televised in TV Show

Andrew Lloyd Webber is in talks with U.S. TV executives over plans to bring his "Wizard of Oz" talent search to America. The composer is hoping to launch a television casting show to find an unknown to play Dorothy in the musical - as he's done in the U.K.

His U.K. show will launch in February 2011 with newcomer Danielle Hope as his leading lady and Michael Crawford returning to the London stage.
He hopes his American TV talent search will prove to be healthy competition for Simon Cowell's new "The X Factor (US)" show.

Lloyd Webber tells Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper, "A couple of the networks in the U.S. have wanted to build something around what I do on TV, and I think with Oz something is definitely going to happen there."

"The X Factor juggernaut is going to be huge there next year but other networks are looking for something to go against it. Once we've found a Dorothy in the U.S., my instinct is to open the show in Kansas (where the story is set)."

'Million Dollar Money Drop' Bosses Refuse to Return Wronged Couple's Money

Last week, Gabe Okoye and Brittany Matyi, who lost $800,000 in "Million Dollar Money Drop", were invited back to the game show. It was revealed that their answer for a question given by host Kevin Pollak had been wrongly deemed incorrect.

The couple risked the money on one question, "Which product was sold in stores first, the Macintosh computer, the Post-It Note, or the Sony Walkman?"
Gabe confidently chose "post-it notes", but they were told that Walkman came out a year before the post-it notes.

In fixing the error, Fox released a statement, "Unfortunately, the information our research department originally obtained from 3M regarding when Post-it notes were first sold was incomplete. As a result of new information we have received from 3M, we feel it is only fair to give our contestants, Gabe and Brittany, another shot to play Million Dollar Money Drop."

In response to the invitation, Gabe had this to say, "If they decide to [give us the money] then that's their decision, if not, then, you know, it is what it is." He added, "Honestly, it was a lot of money - you start thinking about what you could do with it, trying to help the family out. That's really what we wanted to do with it, is just help our families out."

However, Fox declined to give back the money, insisting the final question in the game is always all-or-nothing and they got it wrong anyway. "They never had a chance to win that money. Ever. No matter what," Pollak told The Hollywood Reporter. "They got the last question wrong. None of the clips [on the web] show the last question."

He is keen to have Gabe and Brittany back on the show, but disappointed about their hesitance. "I say right on," he said. "But now they are saying there's too much pressure? Oh my God! Way to get the country to turn against you. That's interesting, they would make such a stink and then ultimately maybe not come back."

It's a good cop Vince Faraday "who was framed for a crime he did not commit, assumed dead by his family, by everyone, and takes on the persona of The Cape which is a comic book character that he used to read to his son," Lyons explained the character he is playing in the TV series.

Fueled by a desire to reunite with his wife Dana (Jennifer Ferrin) and son Trip (Ryan Wynott), Faraday takes the law into his own hands to battle criminal forces that have overtaken Palm City where he's living. 11-Minute First Look at 'Castle' 3.11: Nikki Heat

ABC is quite generous in sharing the first look at the next episode of its TV series "Castle". The network gives away 11-minute footage of the "Nikki Heat" episode via Hulu. It kicks off with Castle complaining about how his character, Nikki Heat, is portrayed in a movie. He slams the actress and the scriptwriter for not doing good-enough jobs.

Later, he goes to a crime scene to investigate a woman murder with Beckett, Ryan and Esposito.
They are joined by a surprise guest Natalie Rhodes, the actress who plays Heat in the movie adaptation. She is doing a "character research" to help transform herself into the spitting image of Beckett.

Laura Prepon ("October Road" "That '70s Show") is tapped to play Rhodes. The other additional cast are Thomas Calabro, Stephen Macht, Melody Thomas Scott, Randall Batinkoff. "Nikki Heat" will air on January 3, 2011.
