Pranchiyettan a Different malayalam film : Renjith

As his latest film for this Ramzan 'Pranchiyettan and the Saint' has opened to rave reviews for its rare kind of story telling, its writer-director Renjith confirms that it was an attempt to create something different even while remaining a part of mainstream cinema. Renjith was speaking to the Media at the Kannur Press Club.

The regularly repeated themes are keeping the audience away from the theatres and so it is high time for Mollywood to try something different without insulting the intelligence of the most learned viewers. The director opined that Mollywood was like an animal tied to a peg and that it was helplessly revolving around it.

Renjith also finds that the success of other language films in the state, is not merely on account of their big budgets and technical backup, but also due to their different story telling and rare characterisations

‘Vande Matharam’ again Postponed

Mammootty's big budgeted bilingual ‘Vande Matharam’ has shifted its release for yet another week. The movie which was expected to be on theatres today, couldn't deliver the prints to the charted theatres as it is said to be enmeshed with some financial problems.

The movie which also features Arjun and Sneha in the lead is said to be a hi-fi action thriller.

Meanwhile, Mammootty's other movie ‘Pranchiyettan And The Saint’ has made to 65 centres today. A satirical family flick, the movie is intensely promoted by the trade. Mammootty's Thrissur slang featured elaborately in the promos has already become the point of talk in the circuits.

Pranchiyettan and The Saint : Mammootty new movie on Sep 10

Renjith is slowly building his mentorship in Malayalam industry with films like Kaioppe, Thirakkatha and Palery Manickyam. The written who penned blockbusters like Devasuram, Narasimham etc. was also a successful commercial director. Lately he was going through parallel cinema. He was recently in news for producing highly appreciated Kerala Cafe.

Ranjith's new film Pranchiyettan and the Saint is a film told through black humor and satire. The shoot for the film has started in early July in Trichur and will be completed soon. Mammootty would play a rice merchant Francis alias Pranchiyettan and Innocent will appear as the Saint.

National award winning actress Priyamani has given 18 days call sheet in which she match her acting skills with three time National award winner Mammootty. She has been lately seen in Mani Ratnam's Raavanan. Priyamani has earlier worked with Renjith in the film Thirakkatha, a film based on the life and times of late actress Srividya. Gossips are that Priyamani is looking north to grab some roles like her contemporary Asin and Trisha.

This film is produced by Capitol Theatres. Mammootty's Play House is distributing Pranchiyettan and the Saint which is releasing on September 10.

Mammootty and Prithviraj together again : The King and the Commissioner

Megastar Mammootty and Young superstar Prithviraj comes together again in the movie 'The King and the Commissioner'. They were first seen together in the recently released movie 'Pokkiriraja'. Renowned script writer Renji Panikkar and director Shaji Kailash are joining hands for this film after a long gap of 15 years.

The King And The Commissioner is planned as a sequel to the super hit films 'The King' and 'The Commissioner', both by Shaji Kailas â€“ Renji Panikker duo. This pair has produced some of the finest action hits in Mollywood like Sthalathe Pradhana Payyans, Thalasthanam, Ekalayavan, Commissioner, The King etc.

In the original movie 'The King', Mammootty played the role of the District Collector Thevalliparambil Joseph Alex and he will don the same role in the sequel too. Suresh Gopi's popular character as 'Bharath Chandran IPS' was born in the movie 'The Commissioner' and a sequel to that film was also made as 'Bharath Chandran IPS'. In this new film, Young superstar Prithviraj will don the role of Bharath Chandran.

The movie will be produced by Anto Joseph. Mammootty's Playhouse will distribute the film. The discussion about the movie is going on and the other cast has to be finalized.

The King and the Commissioner is expected to be another action thriller. The shooting of the film will commence in January 2011 and may reach theatres for next Vishu.

MOHANLAL AND MAMMOOTTY UNITES AGAIN

In other biggest announcement of the year, Megastar Mammootty has cleared that 2011 will feature a multi-starrer with himself and Super star Mohanlal in the lead, produced under his banner 'Playhouse'.

Poised to be the biggest blockbuster after Twenty:20, this hilarious thriller movie will be tentatively titled as 'Arakkkalan, MukkalKallan' and will present hit writers Sibi K Thomas-Udhay Krishna as the directors. Also scripted by the duo, the movie project will be one of the most eagerly awaited flicks for next year.

Sibi K thomas-UdhayKrisshna has been immensely successful in the recent years with their last two flicks 'Pokkiri Raja'' and Twenty:20' becoming the mega hits of the years.

Mammootty upcoming Movie Vande Mataram Details

Vande Mataram superstar Mammoty's new movie which is based on patriotism is supposed to hit theaters by January next year. The movie was produced with a whopping budget of 14 cores, Vande Mataram begins with a scene showing the central investigative agency (RAW) finding out that Malik, the head of a terrorist group, has crossed the international border and entered India to execute deadly explosions in South India. Gopi Krishnan (Mammootty), Southern zone command director of the Intelligence bureau, is assigned the task of tracing the plans of the organization and stopping them from creating any damage. Gopi Krishnan forms a core team with support from Anwar Hussain (Arjun) who joins the group on deputation from the State police. The execution of 'Operation Malik' forms the climax of the movie.

Chattambinaadu release on December 24 Details

After the super hits like ‘Mayavi’ and ‘Thommanum Makkalum’, Mammootty and director Shafi are teaming up once again to create another super hit. Titled ‘Chattambinaadu’, this will be a comedy based action movie made in the scripts of Benny P Nayarambalam.

Mammootty doing the role of Veerendra Mallayya, a Karnataka based estate owner. Most striking highlight of the movie is the accent which will truly have the Kannada flavour to it. If the Thiruvananthapuram version of Malayalam has had an impact on the audience in Rajamanikyam, then the Kannada accent in Chattambinaadu will also work wonders at the box office.

Pazhassi Crosses 10 crores Collection

‘Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja’ is still continuing with its surprise collections, even after a month of its release in Kerala. The movie has already accumulated a ten crores from its 26 day run, which is the highest ever collection for a movie in Malayalam in these number of days. In the capital city itself it has crossed a 75 lakhs in 26 days.

Meanwhile, the Tamil version of the movie will get released by the 20th of this month. The makers are planning to go for a release with 100 prints. With Tamil star Sarath Kumar in the company of Mammootty, who is a known star in Kollywood, ‘Pazhassi Raja’ is expected to make decent collections. Gokulam Films will have the Telugu version of the movie released by the mid of December.

Kuttisranku' director Shaji N. Karun, featuring Mammootty as a marine sailor who operates goods boat (charakku kapal) between Kondugnaloor and Kollam, through the backwaters of Kerala.

Anil Ambani's Reliance Entertainments is producing the film in association with Shaji N. Karun. The locations chosen for Kuttishranku are Kaavaalam, Kumarakom and Vaikkom, in the backwaters of central Travancore.

Padmapriya, Kamalini Mukherji and Meena Kumari are three heroines in Kuttysrank. It is Kamalini Mukherji’s first Malayalam movie.

Mammooty to join hands with Blessy

Once again the Superstar Mammooty is joining hands with the veteran director Blessy. Recently the latest blessy movie Bharamaram which features Superstar Mohanlal as hero got good responses from all over kerala.

The latest news is that Director Blessy is writing a script for Mammooty and sources indicate that Thomas Sebastian will be the director of the movie. And this is the first time blessy is scripting for another director. Thomas Sebastian is an young director who debuted with th Mammooty movie Mayabazzar.

Mammooty has already worked with Blessy in the malayalam films Kazhcha and Palunku and both the films got good responses and critics. Lets see what magic is in the new venture?

Mammoottys' new movie Daddy Cool review

Superstar Mammootty's latest Malayalam movie Daddy Cool got released today. This new film directed by debutant director Aashiq Abu opened in around 80 centers all across the state. This new Mammootty starrer is said to be a hillarious family entertainer, which was produced by Ananya films and distributed by Marikkar films.

As per the initial reports, this new film is carrying an impressive initial reviews, which will surely help the movie to get into the safer side as early as possible. Actually, this new film is just only an average flick with nothing new in it. Frankly speaking, it's very clear that the major letdown is in the part of script, which has a problem that most of it's characters are one dimensional.

In the acting side, Mammootty as usual has made a descent effort to make his character a notable one. The other notable actors in the film were master Dhananjay, Biju Menon and Daniel Balaji. All others have done their respective jobs very nicely except the heroine Richa Pallod. Even though her role in this movie is a short one, she was really amatuerish in her acting.

In the technical side, the debutant director Aashiq Abu has done good work though his script is weak. Sameer Thahir, the young cinematographer has done his work, but don’t expect anything above average. High decibel background music in many places and the title graphics at the start was really a treat to viewers. Songs in this film are also not mind blowing.

All in all, this new Mammootty starrer Daddy Cool is an average flick, that has the potential to make into the hit charts, if it's not challenged with anyother big movies. This film may appeal to you, if you are a follower of cliched family entertainers and according to me this new movie is a watchable one, that too with your kids.

One of the latest hot news in the Malayalam film industry is that after a few decades, Mega star Mammootty and Janapriya Nayakan Dileep are coming together, once again for a movie. The new project by Anwar Rasheed is expected to feature both the actors as brothers. Dileep will play the younger brother to Mammootty, in this movie whose scripts are nearing completion.

The last time when Mammootty and Dileep came together was for the hit Rakshas Rajavu, which was an Onam hit of 2001. This will be third film from Anwar Rasheed featuring Mammootty, the earlier two, Raajamanikyam and Annan Thampi becoming bumper hits.

Daddy Cool is the latest malayalam movie which features Superstar Mammooty in the Central Character. After a long time , mammooty is coming back with a Police officer. His recent movies were not much good and those movies didn't do anything to his stardom. Now He is coming with a family movie,Daddy Cool. Here is the Preview of the Movie Daddy Cool. Daddy Cool which is directed by Ashiq Abu.

In the film Daddy Cool, Mammootty plays the role of Antony Simon, a Crime Branch Circle inspector in the movie. He prefers to free himselves from official duties to spend time with his eight year old cricket crazy son, even though he is a brilliant officer. But Antony's wife, Annie is however irked and dejected by the growing laziness of her husband who was a meticulous officer during his younger days.

According to Antony, he feels that his world has changed since he turned a father to ever mischievous Aadi. The adventures and attitudes of this father and son who share a heavy bond between themselves, makes a sea change after a chance encounter with a cricketer named Sreekanth, the first Malayalee to cement his place in the national cricket team.

The movie which is being shot at Kochi and nearby places is cinematographed by Samir Thahir, who hit big time with his work for the movie ‘Big B’. Debutante director Aashiq Abu who was a former assistant to Kamal, also scripts for the movie. Richa Pallod, the model and heroine of movies like Shajahan appear as Annie in the movie. Master Dhananjay dons the role of Aadi while Govind Padmasuriya, the hero of Adayalangal is cricketer Sreekanth. Also in the cast area Bijumenon, Ashish Vidyarthy, Vijayaraghavan, Raadhika and Saikumar.

‘Daddy Cool’ will feature songs by Biji Bal in the lyrics of Santhosh Varma, Anil Panachooran and Venugopal, Produced by Ananya films in association with Marikar films. As Per the Latest Reports Daddy Cool is ready for the release but it is postponded to Aug 15.
